Good day Bad day: DEADLINE...

Well, its deadline day- what a week

Flash, yet again, decided to be worse than ever. So much time and work was lost, and it began to get silly, re-doing areas over and over, it was hard to find the motivation to carry on. The deadline drew ever closer, and the film wasnt seeming to be getting any further along. It came to a point where I had to realise that the film wasnt going to be completed for the friday, that hopefully, id have time next week to finish areas and that I just had to focus on getting the film as together as possible.

But when it was all edited together and mixed with the sound effects, I was really happy. It came to life better than I expected, and it boosted me again to see it all together. Even with problems then exporting the thing for the dealine, Im happy with the film, and now just need to focus on getting it complete for the Glammies...

But heres how its all looking so far...

Good day Bad day: music, sweet music

One bit of good news though- the music is done! after a few tweaks and alterations, it now fits with the film and the animation alot better. Im happy with it and feel it lifts the action without dominating it. With a few sound effects added here and there, I think the film will lok and sound just as I want it to...fingers crossed...

Good day Bad day: Flash problems

One...week... left...

This weeks been a bit of a nightmare to say the least. Things are slowly coming together, outlining is taking its time but getting done, and the colouring, thanks to sarah and rebecca, is happening. But Flash is choosing the worst time imaginable to start shutting down, crashing, not saving. It loosing me work and time, which is becoming increasingly stressful as the deadline looms- but I have to carry on, push through it, and hope that it all comes together for next week.

Ive had a few problems over the past few wks like it, with flash being temporamental, but nothing compared to this week- I just hope it gets better for the final week...

Good day Bad day: We have Music!

Thanks to a great guy- Benjamin Franks doing third year music, I now have an original score for my film. He simply watched the animatic and created something along with it, it took no time at all- a couple of hours tops. It still needs adjustments, as Id like certain areas to fit the animation and the action of the piece more, but Its such a weight off my mind that I actually have something and its a nice, little piano tune- not too strong, but enough to carry the film through, and with added sound effects, it should all come together nicely.

Good day Bad day: Final colours

With the colouring now finally being started, Ive had to make sure the colours were all working well. From the initial tests, the colours seemed really strong and bold, and were taking away from thre sketchy lines and movments of the animation. So I attempted a few quick versions and ways of colouring...

...and a more diluted, softer colour pallette seemed to suit them well, with white shading aroudn the edges. They still stand out as the main focus of the piece, but blend in to the scenes more and the colours allow the lines of the animation to be clear.

There were also some changes in the designs of the characters along the way which made them easier to replicate and smoother, less complicated for me to use and the audience to view...

And these are the final designs and colours for the bird and cat- making them fit into the world...

Good day Bad day: 2 weeks to go...

Now with just 2 weeks to go after this week, its time to really get stuck into finalising things. Ive got Rebecca and Sarah working on some scenes, their colouring which is amazing and will hopefully speed things up immensly. Plus the feedback from the first submital was possitive, just  few changes to make to the animation and editing, which can all be intergrated whilst cleaning up...just got to pick up the pace...
